The Many Adventures of Keira!

This is our page to document our family's adoption journey- starting from when we first started planning for our little one, to when we brought her home. We're also going to keep this updated with all of the things that Keira has been up to since she's been home with us here in the U.S!

Physical Exams and The Document Party

Hi All! Just wanted to let all of you know that Dan and I have loved reading the comments that you guys leave as well as the emails that everyone has sent. It's been a long trip so far and we just can't wait to get home and see all of you again soon! It's been really fun, but we're getting a little homesick!

This morning at the bright and early morning time of 01:30am, I woke up to see a silhouette of Keira holding on to the bars of the crib standing up. I had no idea that I could move as fast as that so early in the morning to snatch her up before she fell and hurt herself. It's funny the things that you learn about yourself when you become a first time parent. Dan had a major Cipro night last night. Poor Thing! He had been getting a little more adventurous with eating things and last night it finally caught up to him. He said from here on out, he is back to square one with only water that has been in a sealed bottle that he has personally seen sealed and food that he KNOWS for a fact hasn't gotten him sick in the past. He is doing much better today, but you can't blame him for staying paranoid about it now.
After all of that, we went down to get some breakfast and headed over to a building for the babies physical examinations. It's pretty funny. They weigh and check the height of the babies fully clothed, so you can only take the information with a grain of salt. After that, we headed back and all of the guys got to sit down for the Document Party. Basically what that is is where our guide Daniel walks us through signing all of the important documents. Since it takes about 2 hours, they recommend that only 1 parent do it so that the babies can be distracted for the amount of time. The party ended up being with all of the daddies (Dan, Mike and Chris). I went down and all of the guys seemed so lost with trying to shuffle through all of the paperwork. In most cases, the mommies are usually the ones that organize all of the documentation so it's a little harder for all of the daddies to maneuver their way around what is needed. I did have to laugh because it was a cute sight seeing all of the guys concentrating so hard working on that. All of the mommies then spent time with the babies. Paula, her son Jason and I went shopping with her new daughter Jessica as well as Keira of course. We did some damage in a really cute little baby clothing store and got in a good walk. I bought a couple of little picture books for Keira with pictures of basic items with the English word and the Chinese word. I've enclosed pictures of Dan at the document signing as well as Keira reading her books. She's such a riot to watch! Tomorrow is a free day so I think we're all going to go to the Guangzhou Zoo!
By the way, the top picture is of Keira trying to look cute after she left me a great big 20 wipe surprise in her diaper!
