The Many Adventures of Keira!

This is our page to document our family's adoption journey- starting from when we first started planning for our little one, to when we brought her home. We're also going to keep this updated with all of the things that Keira has been up to since she's been home with us here in the U.S!

We're almost there!!!

Today we got the call that we've been waiting for! Our agency called to let us know that we received our TA! Up until now, we were matched by our agency for Keira, but were waiting for the approval from China for the adoption as well as to travel to get our baby- well we finally got it! We sent in our Letter of Intent (LOI) on 11/22 and it's been about 57 days of waiting since then. The wait times have been all over the place lately for TAs that there is no way that I could have predicted that it would come today.
They are still working out the particulars with the travel arrangements and visas etc but the estimated time that they think we will travel will be either the end of February or the beginning of March. That's 1-2 months earlier than we thought! We'll find out the exact travel dates by next week.
One bummer out of it is that because we thought we were not going to be traveling until April or so, we went ahead and redid our homestudy and renewed our 171-H since it was going to expire by April 4th. Now it looks like we will be home before then...although cutting it close. It possibly cost us an extra $1800 to do all of the updates that could have gone towards the trip since it looks like we'll be going before the expiration. It's sooooo close though that I'm ok with it. Better safe than sorry- besides... I wouldn't trade anything for the fact that we'll be getting our baby girl sooner than we expected! We're so excited!
I went to the bank a little while ago to see how long of notice they would need to give me crisp, clean bills for giving as part of the final payment. You would think that I was the only person in the world that ever asked them that by the looks on their faces!
Now I have to figure all of the things out that we will need for traveling as well as making the arrangements for work! So much to do- so little time...
What was I doing all of the time that I've been waiting for about 18 months??? SHEESH!

We're coming to get you soon Keira!
